WIDE AWAKE at 4am...so of course, the only proper thing to do would be to gently wake up my husband and make him suffer with me, right?!? Well, that is what I did. At 5am I gave him a hair cut, then we took a shower and then I cut all of his nails and cuticles. He made me a egg sandwich while I stalked people, we made the bed, and were out in the lawn viewing our newest problem: mice (or rats, we're not sure, as we've only seen the evidence but no actual sitings of the creatures yet) burrowed under the cement slab that the air conditioner sits on. Tony DID find a cute toad that was chilling while we explored our rodent issue. We also hooked up a hose (and promised ourselves we'd buy a new one that doesn't kink as easily) and looked at other future projects for our lawn. Then we went a nice, crisp morning bike ride around the neighborhood and took in some of the new construction that was starting (most likely the cause of our new neighbors under the AC unit). Chatted with Dad and Logan on Skype (today is Dad's 53rd birthday! Happy Birthday, Daddio!) which was really nice! All this by 9am. Excited that this week's forecast lies ALL in the SEVENTIES!!! We opened all of the windows today...what a glorious, well-tempered day!
I was actually on time for church, instead of being early. I don't know what it was about today, but it was so uncomfortable to sit...even with the pad I had used as a buffer. I think I may sit near the edge/back next week so that I can have the option of standing up instead of sitting for the service. Today, Pastor Dave had a really good message about the hats we wear and about how no matter what your "outside" day is like, make sure that when you're with your kids, you wear the "parent hat" and focus, love, and pay attention to them and forget about the kind of day/stresses you've had. I really like this theory but never had it put to me the way he did...I think this is a fantastic approach!
After church, Pastor joked that he was "expanding his sermon" (as he rubbed his belly) to Round Table for their buffet. YUM! Count me in...you don't have to convince the pregnant lady that a buffet is a great closing to church! By shear coincidence, our end of the table turned into the pregnant end and there were 4 of us (plus one who was trying) sitting there talking and eating pizza, bread sticks, and salad while talking about babies and pregnancy and delivery. So much fun! Also got to take a sneak peek of Ms. Meghan's house when we picked up her husband to join us at lunch-she's getting a lot done with setting up for the arrival of Ms. Elsa in January!
Once home, I talked politics with Nikki and Mikee and we even tested each other on religion facts. I had to then school Nikki on one of the best FRIENDS episodes: where Phoebe changes her name to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock. We watched the episode to prove my point.
Babysitting in El Dorado Hills tonight was fun as I got to make cootie catchers with the kids and watch part of a movie: Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium-never heard of it but was actually a good movie (the part that we watched). The only thing that kinda weirds me out about babysitting in this particular area is that they don't have any street lights up on the hill and it gets a little spooky at night.
Alright, I'm off to beddie-pie...as tomorrow it is back to work. Tony has off and will be hosting an inspection for someone to check out our kitchen light/electrical issues in the afternoon tomorrow and at some point tomorrow we will also get a special lawn treatment to help our yard/grass make it to the other side of winter looking healthy. My back is actually kind of hurting today, even though I didn't do any lifting. I think I'll pop in another DVD of FRIENDS and doze off.
For all of you who are wondering about my facebook status for today (as my husband even had to ask me about it), here's an explanation...I think it's a great way to spread awareness (case in point, my husband had to ask why it was my post to say, "I like it up against the back of the bedroom wall"...
Remember the game last year about what color bra you were wearing at the moment? The purpose was to increase awareness of October Breast Cancer Awareness month. It was a tremendous success and we had men wondering for days what was with the colors and it made it to the news. This year's game has to do with your handbag/purse, where we put our handbag the moment we get home for example "I like it on the couch", "I like it on the kitchen counter", "I like it on the dresser" well u get the idea. Just put your answer as your status with nothing more than that and cut n paste this message and forward to all your FB female friends to their inbox. The bra game made it to the news. Let's see how powerful we women really are!!! REMEMBER - DO NOT PUT YOUR ANSWER AS A REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE- PUT IT IN YOUR STATUS!!! PASS THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW
Good night, all! Love to my "favorite" husband, especially!
We lovingly refer to the little girl in our belly as Monkey. Our little girl takes a lot out of her mom's memory, so this is a good way to capture each day, each treasure, and each memory as it unfolds to save it for later and to share with everyone.
To Our Precious, Little Baby Girl...
The hope for this blog is that we get to share with our daughter-to-be, family, and friends what is going on in our lives as we start getting prepared for her BIG DAY and arrival outside of the belly! It'll be a no-holds-barred attempt at our new experiences, challenges, and day-to-day life while our little "bun in the oven" continues to bake. At some point, we hope this will be a loving story for you, little girl, to look back on and hopefully will also be entertaining and educational to read! We love you, little monkey, and are so blessed to have you growing stronger and stronger every day! Love, Mom and Dad
