What a beautiful and amazing day! It's good to have days like today every now and again! It reminds you of how lucky you are! I started out the morning with a brief Skype with Mom. She was planning a day of studying and homework for her Master's program. We talked for a little bit and then we hit the road by 8am. We made it down to San Francisco at Fort Point by 10am, just as the sun was beginning to shine and the fog was dissipating. The temperature was the most we could ask for in the Bay Area: a warm high 60s with a breeze. Just in case any of you are going to be in the Bay Area in the near future, they have increased their tolls, again. As of July 1st, tolls are now different values depending on the peek of traffic, holidays, weekends, etc. They also charge you for carpools now. Oh, when will our economy get back to "normal?"
Fort Point is a FREE national park run by volunteers. It is at the south side of the Golden Gate Bridge, right down on the water's edge. We were able to see a family of dolphins playing in the bay, some seals, a bunch of sailors, and even some kayakers (as the water was rather calm this morning). It was quite windy at the fort, but it was nice to look around and read all the history that happened there. I would most definitely NOT have survived as a soldier stationed there, but it was an incredible feeling to see the sacrifices that the soldiers made for us.

After a nice visit at the fort, we traveled along the water's edge back through the city and throngs of tourists to head back home. We stopped for a quick lunch at our favorite Bay Area restaurant: Sweet Tomatoes. Nikki and Mikee enjoyed the endless salad bar, soup bar, pasta bar, fruit bar, bakery bar, drink bar, and dessert bar with us.

When we got home, I hopped on Skype to talk with Dad and Mary for awhile. They had just finished power washing the house and so they had had a much more rigorous day than I had. I was simply thankful for beautiful weather, a nice family trip, gorgeous views, delicious food, and the fact that I drove (saving me from the inevitable car sickness I feel-which has only intensified with the pregnancy). After catching up with them and sending them a couple ideas of upcoming art projects to work on with my niece, Caity, I flipped on the TV to find "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" playing. I then decided that I could watch while making banana bread and banana muffins with our plethora of unused bananas from last week. I used the recipe from our Lehl Family Reunion Cookbook that I got last summer. Yummy! They were fluffy and exactly what I was craving! Although, no one can top Uncle George's famous chocolate chip banana bread that he makes for the family every Christmas!!!

Now, it is time to take a relaxing shower and snuggle into bed...in our air conditioned house (it is 94 degrees outside) and enjoy some time watching more "Will & Grace" with my hubby. Baby's first trip to San Francisco was a success...I think she would've enjoyed today! Hope you are all enjoying your Labor Day weekend!!! xoxo
